About

As educators, coaches, and sports facilitators, it is essential that we understand the nature of prejudice and the ways in which it can present itself within learning and sporting environments. We have both a legal duty of care and a moral responsibility to challenge prejudice when it is encountered, and to ensure that the spaces we create are safe, welcoming, and inclusive for everyone.

The Colours of Our Scarves programme has been running since 2014 and now engages just under 4,000 participants each year. Over the past decade, the Fair Play Foundation has worked in partnership with Active Schools teams across almost every region of Scotland, delivering educational workshops to staff and volunteers working within schools, local authorities, universities, colleges, and grassroots sports organisations. These workshops provide a clear understanding of prejudice in Scotland, how it manifests in sport and education, and how and where it should be appropriately challenged.

All workshop sessions are delivered in person, on location, and at a time convenient to your team. Thanks to continued Scottish Government funding, the Fair Play Foundation is able to offer these workshops completely free of charge to Active Schools staff and associated volunteers. If you would like more information about what we do, how we do it, or how we could support your area, please get in touch.

Equality through sport events

To date we have delivered events in partnership with student groups from Ayrshire College, Forth Valley College, West College Scotland, New College Lanarkshire and Glasgow Clyde College focused upon tackling prejudice, promoting equality and inclusion within local communities.
