As educators and sports facilitators, it’s essential that we recognize and understand the various forms of prejudice and how they can appear in our environments. We have a legal duty of care and a moral responsibility to challenge prejudice whenever and wherever we encounter it, ensuring that the learning spaces we create are safe, welcoming, and inclusive for everyone.

 

Over the past five years, the Fair Play Foundation has partnered with Active Schools programs across almost every region of Scotland. We’ve delivered educational workshops to staff and volunteer coaches to deepen their understanding of prejudice, its manifestations in sport, and how to effectively challenge it in the right moments.

 

This initiative helps ensure that everyone involved in these programs can contribute to a positive, respectful, and inclusive sports culture.
