Colours of our Scarves . Programme Update - Sept 2026

The Fair Play Foundation's Colours of our Scarves programme is in full swing this autumn, with our team delivering anti-discrimination and education workshops across further and higher education campuses throughout Scotland. This work continues thanks to renewed funding secured from the Scottish Government earlier this year, allowing us to keep offering these sessions entirely free of charge.

This phase of the programme centres on visits to thirteen centres of further and higher education. So far, our team has delivered sessions at West Lothian College; New College Lanarkshire's Broadwood and Ravenscraig campuses; Forth Valley College; Glasgow Clyde College's Cardonald and Anniesland campuses; and West College Scotland. Next week, we head to Dumfries and Galloway College, with four further colleges, including Ayrshire College's campuses, still ahead this year. We're delighted to be continuing to build on our partnership with the University of the Highlands and Islands, with further visits planned to college campuses across the north of Scotland later in the year.

We're building on last year's first visit to UHI Moray and community sports clubs in the Elgin area, where we delivered workshops to UHI Moray students on sports-related subjects across a range of levels, alongside representatives from a number of local sports and organisations, with football, boccia, basketball and netball all represented. We're hopeful of expanding that partnership further this year.

Once this stage concludes around November, our team moves into schools across Scotland, delivering workshops for students on sport and recreation studies programmes, young sports leaders, and Schools of Football participants. Alongside this, we'll continue supporting active school staff in different regions, and keep running our bespoke evening workshops for sports clubs, reaching coaches, trainers, managers, players and other support staff across the country.

We're also proud to announce a new partnership with the Glasgow and District Sunday Football Championship, delivering support and workshops to organisers across the league.

We want to give everyone delivering sport, whether that's coaches, trainers, managers, players or other support staff, a safe space to reflect on their own behaviours and the behaviours around them, and a real perspective on their legal and ethical responsibilities in creating safe, fun environments for sport."
